Students are expected to read 20 minutes each night (100 minutes per week). Research has shown daily independent reading to be one of the most important factors in predicting student success in school. Ask your child questions about what they are reading!

HOMEWORK BINGO
includes spelling and math
Students are to complete at least 5 tasks on the Homework BINGO page with at least 2 math practice choices and 2 spelling practice choices. Although it is not required for students to complete 5 in a row, they can earn prizes when they do so. Prizes are also earned for "black-outs" if your child chooses to complete all of the tasks. Parent signatures must be present to redeem prizes.
Spelling
The first grade spelling words are sight words. These are the most common words used in reading, writing and speaking. Each week there will be 5 sight words and 2 bonus words. The bonus words are included in regular spelling homework assignments. The BINGO options are a great way to practice and only requires 2 practice tasks. Students are encouraged to practice more as needed.
*Every 5 weeks there will be a review of 20 previously learned words.

The Homework Bingo includes math concepts we have been working on in class. Though your child is not required to do all problems, please look over them so you know what we are working on at school.
